From early on, Michael has shared his love of music with others through teaching both individuals as well as ensembles. His enthusiasm is contagious, inspiring his students to strive to be the best they can be. Michael believes in the power of positive feedback and encouragement. When his students insist they’ll never be able to play a difficult passage, he shows them with patience and persistence how to break it down into smaller parts until they’ve mastered it. But, correct notes are only a small part of the goal…Michael teaches them that listening carefully is the key to playing musically, often recording his students so they can critique themselves.  Michael teaches students of varying abilities from beginners to advanced musicians on a variety of instruments including marimba, drum set, rudimentary snare and orchestral and/or marching percussion.  He is available to conduct clinics and work with school ensembles as his schedule allows. Michael also welcomes new students for individual lessons, especially motivated ones who share his passion for music.
